Over 925 Years of Worship, Witness and Service

St Mary's is a growing, lively Christian community on the edge of

London, serving the Parish of East Barnet, as it has done from its

foundation in 1080 by the Benedictine monks of St Albans Abbey.

In 2005 we celebrated our 925th Anniversary!

Today we are one of the southernmost parishes in the Diocese of

St Albans (Church of England).  It's a large parish, and includes our

own Church School and five other primary schools, a secondary

school, shops and small businesses - as well as extensive housing,

a theological college and in the centre of the parish a large, beautiful

park!

Our approach to worship is lively, inclusive and centred on the

Eucharist.  In our pattern of services we try to help all in our diverse

church community to find a way of worshipping and learning about God.

Anglican-Methodist Covenant

On 1st November 2003 the Revd Richard Watson and the

Revd Colin Smith were present at Westminster Central Hall for the

signing of the Anglican-Methodist Covenant, and since then St Mary's

and Barnet Brookside Methodist Church have grown closer together.

On Sunday 9th January 2005 the Chair of the London North-West

District, the Revd Anne Brown, and the Bishop of Hertford, the Rt Revd Christopher Foster, presided over the East Barnet Covenant Service

when Colin & Richard's ministries were mutually recognised and affirmed.
